Remember those two Nanat Baby blankets that never made it to the raffle in Lima?
It always felt like a “to be continued” moment, and now we finally have the plot twist.
Let’s rewind.
Last March, I packed up our Flowery Bugs and Skulls and Succulents baby blankets for Operation Smile Peru’s annual fundraising event. As a brand that believes in giving back, we were thrilled for the chance to support such an incredible mission helping children born with cleft lip and palate. We hoped these soft, artful security blankets could help raise funds for families receiving care.
But international shipping had a different plan.
The blankets took their sweet time (perhaps the Peruvian Pima cotton way) and arrived after the event.
They missed the raffle entirely.
Oops.
Thankfully, the wonderful team at Operation Smile Peru stepped in with a better solution. Rather than letting our little travelers sit on a shelf, they delivered them directly to families receiving treatment. Exactly the kind of outcome a company committed to giving back dreams of.

Meet Lionel
Lionel is five months old, determined, brave, and absolutely adorable. Born with a cleft lip and palate, he’s enrolled in Operation Smile Peru’s comprehensive program, which offers medical treatment, nutritional support, speech therapy, and emotional care for families. The program ensures each baby is healthy and fully prepared for surgery.
One of our blankets (made from ultra-soft, breathable Peruvian Pima cotton) found its new home wrapped around Lionel during a moment when comfort meant everything. This security blanket made from Peruvian Pima cotton became a small but meaningful part of his healing journey.

From raffle prize to real-life impact
This blanket thought it was destined for a glamorous fundraising night.
Instead, it became part of a little boy’s real-world journey toward healing.
I’d call that an upgrade.
Why comprehensive care matters
Operation Smile Peru treats the whole child, not just the medical condition. Families receive crucial guidance from professionals who ensure babies arrive at surgery healthy, nourished, and supported. It’s an approach that transforms not only medical outcomes, but family journeys.
As one of the companies that give back, Nanat Baby is continuously reminded of its purpose. When a simple security blanket made from Peruvian Pima cotton can offer comfort during a vulnerable moment, our mission feels deeply fulfilled.

Every detour has a purpose
Sometimes the best stories are the ones that do not go as planned.
A missed deadline. A rerouted package.
A Nanat Baby blanket that arrives exactly where it is meant to be.
To Flavia and the entire Operation Smile Peru team: thank you for inviting Nanat Baby into this important work.
To Lionel: you have a whole crew cheering for you. May your future be filled with healing, joy, and the brightest smiles.
